The Tutor Trust aims to transform the provision of top-up-tuition in the UK, and to play its part in reducing the attainment gap in education. We are unique in offering a high-quality, flexible and professional tuition service on a not-for-profit basis. We have a particular focus on serving schools in challenging communities, of which there are many in Manchester and Leeds.
We passionately believe that good quality, flexible and affordable tuition can play an important role in tackling underachievement and disadvantage in tandem with other initiatives.
The Trust is a not-for-profit broker linking undergraduates and other potential tutors with disadvantaged schools that wish to provide tuition for their pupils. It selects, trains, and insures tutors, and also handles the logistics of organising lessons.
As a not-for-profit entity, any financial surplus that the Tutor Trust generates is re-invested in tuition services for students from disadvantaged backgrounds at target schools.
Each Tutor will 'give something back' to the organisation by offering a free hour for every six hours they get paid, in line with our ethos.
In time, the Tutor Trust's model could be expanded to offer tuition services in every major town and city in the UK, and thus help to transform the achievements and life chances of Britain's schoolchildren.
