Today sees the appointment of a new post to our Senior Management Team. Vicky Sadler, previously Deputy Director - Training, is now Director of Tutor Recruitment and Development.

This role will provide our tutors with a seamless journey from recruitment onwards, ensuring that we’re recruiting the highest quality tutors and providing them with the best possible ongoing support.

Vicky joined us in January 2021, as Primary Quality Manager, before becoming Deputy Director of Training in July 2022. In that role, she led the pioneering Local Matters research project in partnership with the University of Manchester. Tutorcast, our education podcast, is also Vicky’s brainchild. It has attracted many leading voices in mentoring and education, including the educational development lead at the National College, Dr Haili Hughes; the CEO of Chatsworth Multi Academy Trust, Trustee and Dr Martin Hanbury; and educational psychologist Dr David Lamb.

Before joining Tutor Trust, Vicky was a Primary school teacher in Manchester. Initially taking on leadership roles covering Diversity and Inclusion, and SENDCo training, she championed support systems for vulnerable, SEND, and EAL learners and mentored students and Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs). There then followed some vital experiences in Early Years settings until 2018, when relocating her family to America, she moved into online tutoring.

Speaking of her new role, Vicky says:

I’m really excited to embark in this new role, having worked in the charity for over three years. The quality of our tutors is fundamental to what we do, and I’m looking forward to guiding them through every step of their journey with us. I’m passionate about providing tutors with the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to excel in their roles. I’m delighted to now have the opportunity to work with our tutors from their first interaction with us and support their ongoing development.”
Vicky Sadler, Director of Tutor Recruitment and Development

Tutor Trust CEO, Ed Marsh said of Vicky’s appointment:

We pride ourselves on recruiting the best tutors and giving them the best training and support. I am confident that Vicky will build on this strength as we look to continually improve our tutor journey. From a personal perspective, I am looking forward to Vicky joining the Senior Management Team where I think her perspective and experience both within and outside Tutor Trust will be invaluable.”
Ed Marsh, CEO

Vicky's appointment isn't the only change in our SMT. Matt Wallis, our Director of Quality and Training will now lead our integrated Quality and Impact Team, taking over Impact and Data responsibilities.  Matt was the first QTS we appointed at Tutor Trust and was involved in our RCT with the EEF in 2016.  Matt created Tutor Trust’s gold standard Quality Strategy and has led all our diversification projects, including our innovative AI pilot over the past academic year.

We pride ourselves on our high standards of Quality and Impact, together with our processes for recruiting and training high calibre tutors.  We are confident that Matt’s wider remit and Vicky’s promotion to the SMT will build on this as we look to continually improve and strengthen our charity.
