It’s our incredible tutors who make what we do every day possible and it’s at this time of year where we can reflect on the fantastic work they’ve done. Our annual Tutor Awards take place every June and, this year, we kicked the celebrations off with our Greater Manchester awards at Manahatta, Deansgate

As well as supporting pupils to make progress and improve their outcomes, our tutors are also continually learning and through our ongoing Learning and Development opportunities in areas such as mentoring, coaching and using AI for session planning.

Upon winning English Tutor of the Year, Joe Sollitt said:

The charity genuinely cares about the success of every student, and also cares about the tutors. The training I received helped me massively to prepare for my teacher training interviews. Thank you.”
Joe Sollitt, Greater Manchester English Tutor of the Year

Science Tutor of the Year Khadija Woods, highlighted the learning opportunities provided as being particularly valuable:

I would like to give a massive thank you for all the support, advice, training and much more provided by the whole team. We would not have been able to develop as tutors… as much without their unwavering support.”
Khadija Woods, Greater Manchester Science Tutor of the Year

Islay, one of our nominated tutors, said that she felt proud to tutor with us because:

“I can be a positive part of a student’s school day and it’s great experience for working with young people in the future.”

Alex Wood, Greater Manchester Programme Manager, said of the Awards:

We’re extremely fortunate to work with such an exceptionally talented group of tutors, who are dedicated to making sure that our young people are supported to make progress. As well as providing them with academic support, they’re fantastic role models for pupils and the positive impact that they have is reflected in the feedback that we received from pupils and partners in their nominations.

I’m delighted that we are able to take this opportunity to look back at all they’ve achieved this academic year and celebrate our tutors’ many successes.”

Invest in tutoring

We had an amazing time celebrating all of our tutor's successes across the region. They are amazing, but we need more support to ensure we can offer our services to more young people into the future. Help us to continue to invest in providing the best tutors to young people in the North.
