Our Trustees have a range of experience in a number of sectors, including education.

Pete McIntyre

Pete runs a FinTech software company (Planixs) following a 20 year career in blue-chip consulting firms.  Prior to Planixs he worked for Accenture, Deloitte and most recently spent five years as a Partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Pete's experiences span a range of industries and activities, in particular he has extensive knowledge of both the public sector and the banking industry. 

Pete is a graduate of Cambridge University where he studied Engineering and Management Studies.

Lucy has been a Trustee since 2014 and is Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee.  She also has oversight for the Board on safeguarding.  She qualified as an accountant in 1994 and has spent over 20 years working in Higher Education management.  She is a governor at Priestnall School in Stockport, where she has responsibility for governor development.  She is a volunteer for Citizens Advice.

Louise Banahene is Director of Educational Engagement at the University of Leeds.  She provides leadership on the University’s access and student success strategy including outreach, contextual admissions and changes to structures and process to close gaps in continuation and degree awarding gaps. In 2017 she was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours for services to higher education.

She is also the strategic lead for the Go Higher West Yorkshire partnership – a collaboration between thirteen higher education providers across the region working together to develop higher level skills provision, outreach to widen access/target under-represented groups (including Uni Connect) and new programme development. She has served as elected Chair of the Russell Group Widening Participation association.

Throughout her career, she has focused on a targeted and integrated approach to fair access and student success. With a degree in English and an MEd in Lifelong Learning, her career has largely been within higher education.

Dr Martin Hanbury is Chief Executive Officer of the Chatsworth Multi Academy Trust in Salford.  Martin has been involved in the strategic leadership of special schools for more than 20 years, having served previously in a number of roles. Martin works as an educational consultant and has published a number of books in the field of special education and regularly lectures on the subject of SEND both nationally and internationally.

Phil is Executive Principal at North Liverpool Academy, part of the Northern Schools Trust. He has been Headteacher in schools in Birmingham and Liverpool. His work includes inspection, support for schools facing challenging circumstances and mentoring leadership trainees.

He is passionate about the role of education in supporting social mobility. He believes in seeking world class education opportunities for students, regardless of background or personal circumstances.

Phil is a Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching, supporting the use of research evidence in the development of professional practice for teachers.

Jonathan Nuttall

Jonathan is a qualified chartered accountant specialising in mergers and acquisitions and is currently Director at EY, Strategy and Transactions in Manchester.  He has more than 10 years' experience of advising clients including corporates, public sector organisations, investors and lenders on financial due diligence, corporate restructuring and development of strategic plans.

Jonathan has been working alongside the Tutor Trust since its inception, providing pro bono financial advice and mentoring.  Right at the start he collaborated with Nick Bent and Abigail Shapiro developing the initial 3 year business plan, which helped the charity successfully obtain its first round of charitable funding.  He is very excited to become a Trustee of Tutor Trust, and to work alongside the rest of the team, driving forward the strategy of narrowing the education attainment gap that exists in both primary and secondary for pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Jonathan originally studied Law at Manchester University, and though he has worked both across the UK and Internationally, is proud to be back in the North.

Neetu Ogle is currently the Group Head of Legal and Company Secretary for The Crown Estate and was previously the Group General Counsel and Company Secretary of LGC, a £600m revenue private equity owned global life sciences business. 

Neetu brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having operated in fast growing and evolving companies, including Inmarsat plc and QinetiQ Group plc. She also has experience of leading a Talent and Development function. Neetu brings strong commercial, legal, growth, risk and governance expertise to the Board.

Helen Pratten is Co-Chief Executive Officer at Abbey Multi Academy Trust, Leeds and has held a number of leadership roles in schools, including as Headteacher. In her role as Co-CEO, Helen is responsible for leading the regulatory and operational arm of the organisation through her strategic leadership of the corporate services team. Helen is also Executive Principal at the Trust, and works across the five primary academies in the Trust to ensure progress has been made on Trust-wide priorities, to drive improvements to secure improved outcomes and to support leaders in building professional cultures within their academies.

Anna Persin

Anna co-founded, ran for 20 years, and then sold an executive search consultancy focused on roles in strategy and transformation, advising clients in the UK, continental Europe, and the US.  Prior to setting up her own business, she took an MBA from INSEAD in France and then worked as a strategy consultant for Marakon Associates in London.

Anna first worked with the Tutor Trust on a project via Impetus and was impressed by the Tutor Trust's mission, the quality of the leadership team, and their ambition to deliver for pupils in the North.  She truly believes in the importance of education as the daughter of parents who came to the UK with no qualifications and studied to improve their lives.
