Our Annual Reception presents the opportunity for us to reflect on the year just gone. And this year’s was extra special as we marked the occasion by launching our latest impact report.

Last week, we launched our 2023/24 Impact Report at our Annual Reception in Manchester’s Living Worlds Museum. The reception was attended by 90 colleagues, including peers, partners, school leaders and staff, and we heard from five guest speakers about their experiences with how Tutor Trust has positively impacted them.

Setting the tone

This year, Tutor Trust worked with 149 schools to support 6,016 pupils, 92% of whom either received Pupil Premium funding or attended a school serving a low-income area. This is something we are immensely proud of.

However, as expressed by our Co-Founder and Executive Director, Abigail Shapiro in her opening remarks, this year’s achievements could not have been achieved without the collective effort of our Tutor Trust community.

We have achieved so much this year and we’re thrilled to be able to share our successes with you here tonight. And achieving all of this against a very challenging backdrop is in no small part testament to the hard work, generosity and support of everyone in this room.”
Abigail Shapiro, Co-Founder and Executive Director

Our guest speakers

We were delighted to hear from five guest speakers. While all of our speakers provided a unique perspective about how our tutoring has supported them, they all shared the same passion for ensuring that every young person is provided with the same opportunities to succeed.

A sincere thank you to:

I truly do believe that the Tutor Trust has had an immeasurable impact on so many individual pupils and schools who just needed someone to believe in them and truly the Tutor Trust does, it has been an amazing 3 years with them and one of the most rewarding things I have done."

A closing note

Before guests were invited to enjoy some drinks and canapes, our CEO, Ed Marsh, offered some closing remarks:

As you will see in our Impact Report, our tutoring makes a real difference. And we continue to look for new and innovative ways to make the world a fairer place. From offering resit tuition in sixth forms and colleges, to strengthening our partnerships with universities, there is a lot to look forward to in the year ahead."
Ed Marsh, CEO

Looking ahead

It was a pleasure to join our friends, partners, tutors and supporters to reflect on a successful year of delivering high-quality, impactful tuition to pupils across the North of England. However, with the attainment gap the largest it has been since 2011, and this gap disproportionately affecting young people in the North, we remain focused on the year ahead and doing all that we can to help support every young person fulfil their potential.
