From baking cakes to rattling collection tins and even putting on their running shoes to compete in the Manchester 10K, the community-focused teams at PwC have been getting creative to support Tutor Trust, their chosen charity for the year.

PwC has been a corporate sponsor of Tutor Trust for several years, and now, through a full-on programme of fundraising activity, including a quiz, football tickets auction, and comedy night, a dedicated staff team has raised more than £15,000 to support our work in giving young people access to a great tutor.

And the amazing team has more fun events planned over the summer.

"Tutor Trust being chosen as PwC’s charity of the year is the icing on the cake. We are thrilled that Tutor Trust has the support of the team at a Northern, and global, company. We count Tutor Trust as very lucky in having the support of PwC over several years, as our drive to create equity in education echoes their organisational focus of bringing equity and opportunity to their communities."
Ed Marsh, CEO and Abigail Shapiro, Co-Founder and Executive Director

They added:

"PwC have been a corporate sponsor of our annual Summer Reception for several years, and being chosen by their staff as their charity of the year is wonderful. The Manchester team behind it have put a lot of energy into creating such fabulous fundraising events.
“And this connection between our two organisations is not only about our similarities in wanting to create equity, but it’s also very personal too, boosted by the advocacy of one of PwC’s managers, Ghalib Khan. Ghalib was able to share the benefits of our work through his own firsthand experience as a tutor with us.”

Ghalib, like many thousands of students since, took the opportunity to tutor with the then newly-formed Tutor Trust in 2012 whilst studying Mathematics at the University of Manchester. He continued to tutor with us throughout his studies, for almost three years.

We're very proud to support such a dynamic and inspiring organisation. I was lucky enough to see firsthand the huge impact the Tutor Trust has on the educational outcomes of children.

"My experience of tutoring across Manchester means that raising funds to support TTT is deeply personal for me, and I know every penny raised will make a difference. Everyone deserves a fair chance and the amazing people at the Tutor Trust are a living example of making that happen!”
