We are pleased to launch our Impact Report which takes stock of our achievements in 2023/24 and highlights the partnerships and people behind them

It has been an exciting year for Tutor Trust as we began to expand our offer and continued to support over 6,000 young people with our high-quality tuition.

Our headline stats

  • We worked in partnership with 149 schools to support 6,016 pupils, 92% of whom either received Pupil Premium funding or attended a school serving a low-income area
  • We saw a 135% growth in our Tutoring Plus programme
  • We found our tutoring improved attendance as well as attainment. Pupils who were identified as severely absent receiving tutoring through our Tutoring Plus programme had a mean school attendance of 26% and a mean tutoring attendance of 72%
  • We supported our tutees to make impressive progress:
    • Our lowest prior attaining primary tutees made 10.27 scaled scores of progress in their SATs
    • Our lowest prior attaining secondary tutees made 1.3 grades of progress in their GCSEs

Increasing our impact

This year represented the last year of the National Tutoring Programme (NTP) which has enabled Tutor Trust to grow its reach. Over the past year, we strengthened, diversified and adapted our programmes so now we are in a strong position to continue delivering tutoring after the NTP to the young people who need it most.

In 2023/24 we:

  • Successfully piloted new programmes including phonics for Key Stage 1, 2 and 3, English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), and post-16 GCSE resits
  • Worked closely with our generous funders to keep the school cost of our tuition the same for the second year in a row
  • Continued to advocate and campaign at the highest levels of government for tuition funding

We’re proud and grateful to our team, school partners, tutors, and funders for continuing to do everything possible to make our high-quality tutoring available to pupils in the North who need us. Without their and our tutees’ dedication, the achievements shown in our report would not have been possible.

Our Impact

Tutor Trust are deeply committed to evidence-based practice and to ensuring every hour a tutor spends with a young person has a positive impact on attainment, confidence and enjoyment of learning. We are unique in the UK in having positive results from two randomised control trials.
