This Tutorcast podcast is episode two of a three-part podcast series, which explores the influence of in-school tutoring on pupils, tutors, communities, and the broader education landscape

Our tutors

Our tutors are recruited based on academic credentials and the ability to build supportive relationships with children. They have all received comprehensive training in pedagogy, lesson planning, building relationships and the primary curriculum. All have an enhanced DBS and receive annual safeguarding training.

It's Maths Week!

Maths tuition is a crucial part of our work, so we're keen to celebrate and promote all things numbers-related during #MathsWeek!

To the left of the picture two secondary school-aged female pupils wearing purple blazers are sat at a desk with their backs to the camera. On the other side of a desk a young male tutor wearing a white t-shirt and glasses is sat. He is looking down at a laptop and explaining a concept to the pupils.

Secondary resources and schemes of work

Our tutors are trained to plan and deliver their sessions, based on your school's priorities and data, alongside the learning gaps identified in our baseline assessments. They can access a wealth of secondary National Curriculum resources via our online training portal. We also offer schemes of learning which are more structured for some secondary subjects and year groups, including a Foundation GCSE Maths revision programme.

Promising news for the future of tutoring

Permanent and widespread access to tuition has been part of the agenda at the Liberal Democrats’ Annual Conference this weekend. Lib Dem education spokesperson Munira Wilson has proposed a £390m annual investment for schools, sixth forms and colleges to provide 12-week tuition programmes to 1.75m children.

Creating impactful tuition programmes

We continually seek to learn 'what works' with tutoring and, with over ten years experience, we've amassed a range of knowledge. We collect and analyse a wide range of data and views in order to help us understand the impact of our tutoring programmes, and inform continuing programme design.
