Congratulations to Aisha, Key Stage 1 winner for Speak Up North 2024

Aisha takes the Key Stage 1 Prize for Broadfield Primary, Oldham, with her poem titled 'A Winter's Day.' Listen to Aisha talk about what motivated her writing and her feelings upon winning the competition.

When we caught up with Aisha, she was really happy to have won the competition and explained how she was inspired to write her poem when thinking about her favourite season, Winter. We enjoyed presenting Aisha’s prize and celebrating her work, as well as those from the other participating pupils, at Broadfield’s celebration assembly where parents also attended.

A Winter's day

W  inter is a cold season

love going in the cold, icy snow

N  ow snow is my favourite season

T  he snow is white, crunchy and we can make snowmen

E  nd of Winter is sooo sad.

R  ight now, I am sad because Winter's gone.

D  ays are so rainy and cold,

A  nd when it was the end, there was no ice.

Y  ou like snow, so do I!

We were really proud [of Aisha]! Speak Up North fits in nice with our school values - getting children to think about themselves, their families, and their communities."
